Making Memories - One Stitch at a Time.....

Songs of the Seasons

It's a panel that depicts the four seasons that we all enjoy here in Western Pennsylvania
Why not separate these panels and make individual wall hangings, one for each season?
We also purchased the coordinating fabric that can be used for borders, backing, or binding
It didn't come with a pattern suggestion but I am sure with all your talent, you will be able to figure something out.
Or, come in and let us help you out.
Isn't this cute?
It's a quick quilt made from the "Amelia" charm squares that we have
Stop and pick up a pattern and the charm pack and
you will be on your way to this adorable quilt

We are pleased to announce our participation in a program sponsored by the Love & Hope Foundation, a non-profit corporation, dedicated to providing dignity and love to breast cancer patients.

This project involves making "Dignity Robes" for
Breast Cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment
We have complimentary kits here at the shop that include all the material and supplies needed to make one of these robes.

In addition, a representative from this organization has offered to give a free class here at the shop. You don't have to be an expert to make these but some sewing experience does help.
Call the shop to let us know if you are interested in a class

Stop and pick up your kit today
If you are interested in making it out of your own "cotton only" fabric you can stop in the shop and pickup the pattern

Beginning in the 1880's up until WWII, hoboes placed markings on fences, posts, railroad trestles, buildings, etc. to aid themselves and others of their kind in finding help or steering them clear of trouble. Usually these signs would be written in chalk or coal letting others know what they could expect at a particular location. The classic American hobo of the early days communicated through a basic system of markings that gave information to other Knights of the Road that followed.

Wool & Wool Felt

We have hand dyed wool, some commercially dyed wool & wool felt.

We have - black wool by the yard

Transfer-Eze!

Do you hate to trace designs for your needlework projects?  We have the solution for you - Transfer-EzeTransfer-Eze is a printable film that is terrific to stitch through.  All you have to do is print your design on your home copier/printer right onto the sheet of Transfer-Eze.  Copy your design onto the "film" side of the Transfer-Eze.  Peel the paper backing away and stick the Transfer-Eze directly onto your fabric.   Stitch as usual following the design on the printed Transfer-Eze.  When your stitching is completed, cut away excess Transfer-Eze and soak the project in cold water to melt the remaining film away.   Makes transfer to dark fabrics a breeze.

Some Fun for You

Quilter Funnies Just for You

We've all heard the classic line that only a quilter would take yards and yards of material, cut it into little pieces and then sew them back together again. While this statement is true and a little funny to think about, it doesn't even scratch the surface of the things that only a quilter would do.

Murphy's Laws for Quilters

On any given day the number of employees in a quilt shop is inversely proportional to the number of customers needing quick attention.

Every quilt will take twice as long as you expect and be ½ as beautiful

Mountain Patchwork Patterns

We picked up these patterns at the Quilt Market.  Shown below are 2 of many that we purchased - the Log Cabin and Square Dance.  They are simple and fast to construct using the "double stitch" method of quilting.  A simple embroidery pattern is added and a few buttons for flowers on the vine that set it off.  With these patterns, you can make several sizes of framed pieces or full size quilts.  We also have a tote bag pattern available.  They are all great projects for evening TV or road trips.

We now have 2 frame sizes available for you to purchase.

When does a WIP become a UFO?

It starts out as a WHIMM (Work Hidden in My Mind.)

After a FART (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip) and some SEX (Stash Enhancing eXperience), it becomes a PIG (Project In a Grocery Sack).

The PIG becomes a HSY (pronounced hissy .... meaning Haven't Started Yet).

Once you have a HSY-fit and begin work, it becomes a WIP (Work in Progress).

The WIP becomes a UFO (UnFulfilled Opportunity....I like that better than Unfinished Object which sounds so negative) as soon as some other project grabs and holds your attention more than the project that was a WIP.
