Challenge 2010

Emma vs Spyder

As a project to give back to our community, we conducted this "challenge"
to raise money for the Indiana PA  Four Footed Friends

and a special thanks from Emma & Spyder to every one
who has contributed to this project to help their Four Footed Friends

5 lap quilts and 2 pillows have been completed thanks to our very generous volunteers

Catherine Martin (age 10)
tied this quilt
for the 4 Footed Friends
Her Grandmother, Dorinda Patti,
helped back it and bind it.

Elaine Harmon

The quilts & pillows have been given to the Four-Footed friends and I understand that they were delighted with them.

They are busy now making decisions on how they can best use them to benefit their facility.
We will keep you updated.

Many thank you's are due to all of the quilters who helped piece the blocks.  To Elaine and Thelma who did the quilt piecing.  To Cindy Bush, Nancy Steffee, Elaine Harmon, Catherine Martin and Dorinda Patti who did the quilting and tying and binding.  And to Margie Jacobs who made the pillows.
Thank you is also due to those who donated fabric, batting, pillow forms, and backing.
Is there anyone missing from this list?

Some Fun for You

Quilter Funnies Just for You

We've all heard the classic line that only a quilter would take yards and yards of material, cut it into little pieces and then sew them back together again. While this statement is true and a little funny to think about, it doesn't even scratch the surface of the things that only a quilter would do.

"We make our quilts as perfect as we can, and if we make a mistake and don't catch it, then it is there forever. God has better things to do than supervise our quilt making."

Mountain Patchwork Patterns

We picked up these patterns at the Quilt Market.  Shown below are 2 of many that we purchased - the Log Cabin and Square Dance.  They are simple and fast to construct using the "double stitch" method of quilting.  A simple embroidery pattern is added and a few buttons for flowers on the vine that set it off.  With these patterns, you can make several sizes of framed pieces or full size quilts.  We also have a tote bag pattern available.  They are all great projects for evening TV or road trips.

We now have 2 frame sizes available for you to purchase.

When does a WIP become a UFO?

It starts out as a WHIMM (Work Hidden in My Mind.)

After a FART (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip) and some SEX (Stash Enhancing eXperience), it becomes a PIG (Project In a Grocery Sack).

The PIG becomes a HSY (pronounced hissy .... meaning Haven't Started Yet).

Once you have a HSY-fit and begin work, it becomes a WIP (Work in Progress).

The WIP becomes a UFO (UnFulfilled Opportunity....I like that better than Unfinished Object which sounds so negative) as soon as some other project grabs and holds your attention more than the project that was a WIP.
